Last year a bunch of friends and I had a girls night out. We decided to go to downtown Washington D.C. The place that was picked for the evening was Cuba Libre. We went on a Saturday night for dinner, and then we stayed for salsa dancing. It was so much fun! I believe that Cuba Libre has several locations in some major cities on the east coast; if you are able to find one, I would recommend going if you ever get the chance.
So you guys have the pie crust and now I am going to give you the recipe for my favorite pie filling. This is about the one and only pie I personally like to eat. I have tried many different pie flavors and well, they are lots of fun to try, but my heart belongs to this Country Apple Pie.
Grandma’s Recipe Box
Today I bring you a recipe from my Grandma Madeline, her pie crust. Though I myself am not a huge pie eater, I do love to make pies. Or it could be that my husband and 3 children all love pie. I do make them a pie every so often with the in-season fruit we pick up and this is the crust I always use. It ends up being so flaky and bakes perfectly. It also only has 4 ingredients, which you probably have in your cupboard right now.
So although not always successful… I am trying to eat more vegetables. It’s not that I don’t like a lot of vegetables, I just don’t do a good job of making sure I get enough each day. So to help compensate I decided to create a clean Lemongrass Chicken With Cauliflower Rice dish.
My Grandma Arlene always had a pack of Andes mints in her kitchen cabinet. I always loved to go and get one out of the cupboard when we were at the farm. I still think of her every time I eat an Andes mint, and especially when I make these Andes Mint Chocolate Cookies.
